What's happening in Sudan now?

Thanks to those of you who joined the 2012 - year of prayer for the two Sudans. For those of you not lead to do so, God bless you too!

Things are happening so fast in Sudan / South Sudan now. Every day there seems to be a new thing. Just in the past week or so, we read in the news:

7 Nov: Pres Bashir threatens South Sudan with war. He dared South Sudan to fire the first shot. Read more.

8 Nov: Reports of an areal attack / bombing by the Sudan forces on the Yida refugee camp in South Sudan’s Unity State. Allegedly 12 civilians killed and 20 injured. Read more - one more.

8 Nov: US lobby group wants “no-fly zone” in Sudan. Read more.

9 Nov: The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) in Sudan has rejected a US proposal aimed at resolving the conflict in the country’s oil-rich state of South Kordofan, saying Khartoum will never accept to cede any part of it. Read more.

9 Nov: Announcement: A South Korean delegation will visit South Sudan in mid-November in order to follow up previous assessments intended to lead to the deployment there of peacekeepers from the east Asian country. Read more.

9 Nov: The Sudan Government denies bombing of Yida refugee camp. Read more.

9 Nov: Two German citizens have been arrested in Sudan on suspicion of attempting to collect information about claims of displacement arising from the construction of Merowe Dam upcountry, sources told Sudan Tribune. More than 100,000 persons have been displaced in Nile River state in northern Sudan due to the 2010 construction of the Chinese-engineered Merowe Dam on the Fourth cataract of the River Nile. 10 Nov: The bombing of Yida refugee camp in South Sudan is described as an “Act of War” by Sudan. Read more.

10 Nov: South Sudan warns that Khartoum is planning an attack. Read more.

11 Nov: US say denial of Sudan about bombings is a “blatant lie”. Read more.

11 Nov: The United Nations says it has confirmed that Sudan was responsible for the bombing of the Yida refugee camp in South Sudan. Read more.

12 Nov: The Government of Syria lashing at Sudan for supporting a decision by the Arab League to suspend Syria from the Arab League. Read more.

12 Nov: The Sudanese intelligence service on Saturday accused South Sudan of sponsoring the meetings of a new rebel alliance, saying this support represents ’a clear declaration of hostility,’ against Khartoum. Read more.

13 Nov: Oxfam withdrew nearly two dozen workers from the Upper Nile Area of South Sudan following days of increased violence. The workers reported hearing bombings and heavy artillery fire near the Sudan border. Read more.

13 Nov: South Sudan accuses north Sudan of cross border attacks. Read more.

13 Nov: Reports indicate that both sides are increasing their military presence along the ill-defined north-south border. Read more.

14 Nov: Sudan Revolutionary Front formed: all the major armed opposition groups forming an alliance, saying the only way left to deal with the Khartoum government is to change it. Read more.

15 Nov: Sudan strike apologetic tone to Syria on Arab League vote. Read more.

15 Nov: The prosecutors at the International Criminal Court (ICC) will soon request an arrest warrant for Sudanese defence minister Abdel-Rahim Mohamed Hussein. Read more.
